Data Protection Policy
Directive 2009/136/EC on users’ rights relating to electronic communications networks and services and Regulation 2001/45/EC on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, are applicable for any data collection and data processing campaigns organised in the framework of the HerWorldOurWorld initiative, carried out under the responsibility of the Head of the Unit DEVCO.02, Communication, Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development, acting as the Controller.
The processing operations on personal data linked to the organisation and management of these campaigns are necessary for the management and functioning of the Commission, as mandated by the Treaties, and more specifically in Article 5 of TEU, Article 13 TEU and Articles 244-250 TFEU, and in accordance with Article 1 and Article 11of TEU.
2. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT AND THROUGH WHICH TECHNICAL
The collection of personal data (such as name, birthdate, country of residence, email address, social media accounts) of supporters of the HerWorldOurWorld campaign is performed with the only intent to measure the outreach of the campaign. Support given to the campaign is voluntary.
Any digital marketing undertaken through social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) is performed through the standard functionalities of these media and with the only intent to increase the visibility of the HerWorldOurWorld initiative, without commercial benefit.
3. WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION AND TO WHOM IS IT DISCLOSED?
Access to all personal data as well as all information collected in the context of these campaigns is only granted through UserId/Password to a defined population of users, without prejudice to a possible transmission to the bodies in charge of a monitoring or inspection task in accordance with EU legislation. These users are members of the Commission unit (Communication unit – DEVCO.02) and the contractor’ team (Global Concept Consulting).
No personal data is transmitted to parties which are outside the recipients and the legal framework mentioned.
The European Commission will not share personal data with third parties for direct marketing purposes.
4. HOW DO WE PROTECT AND SAFEGUARD YOUR INFORMATION?
The collected personal data and all information related to the campaigns is stored on a computer of the contractor as described above, acting as processor, who has to guarantee the data protection and confidentiality required by the Regulation (EC) 45/2001.
5. HOW CAN YOU VERIFY, MODIFY OR DELETE YOUR INFORMATION?
If you want to verify which personal data is stored on your behalf by the responsible controller, have it modified, corrected or deleted, please contact the Controller by using the contact information below, giving a clear description of your request.
6. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR DATA?
This personal data will be part of a list of contact details shared internally amongst the staff of Commission for the purpose of contacting you in the future in the context of research on Commission websites. This data will be kept for one year following the closing of the consultation.
